This pasta with shrimps recipe is not your typical garlic shrimp pasta. I'm not using white sauce for this one, either. Instead, I have shrimp pasta with spinach for you; and with cherry tomatoes as its based.
It's definitely a treat (err.. trick) for the kids to eat some veggies. Get my pasta with shrimps and spinach recipe here; please, read on.
I created this shrimp pasta recipe one sunny mid-day while itching for something to cook at home. It turned out great! I hope you enjoy it, as well.
Ingredients in cooking pasta with shrimps and spinach:
- pasta
- olive oil
- shrimps, cut in halves
- spinach, cut in small portions
- cherry tomatoes, cut in halves
- dried basil powder
- salt
- pepper
- fish sauce
- chili powder (optional)
Steps in cooking pasta with shrimps and spinach.
1. Cook the pasta. Drain and set aside for later.
2. Saute' garlic in olive oil.
4. Add in the shrimps.
5. When the shrimps turn orange, add in the spinach leaves. Mix well.
7. Add the pasta. Mix well.
8. Add the basil powder.
9. Serve while hot.
Ok, if you made a lot of pasta (I mean more than what your sauce can accommodate), don't fret. Here's what you do: Before putting the pasta into the sauce, add a bit of water or vegetable stock in the sauce. Season the dish with basil powder, paprika powder, fish sauce and pepper. Let it boil under low heat. Then put in your pasta.
In summary:
Prep time: 5-10 minutes
Cook time: 10-15 minutes (sauce) 30 minutes (pasta noodles)
Total time: 50-55 minutes

Remember me when you cook!

Ingredients in cooking pasta with shrimps and spinach:
- pasta
- olive oil
- shrimps, cut in halves
- spinach, cut in small portions
Note to separate the stems from the leaves. We'll cook the stringy stems first. :)- garlic, crushed and chopped
- cherry tomatoes, cut in halves
- dried basil powder
- salt
- pepper
- fish sauce
- chili powder (optional)
Steps in cooking pasta with shrimps and spinach.
1. Cook the pasta. Drain and set aside for later.
2. Saute' garlic in olive oil.
If you're using spinach with its stems, I suggest to toss in the stems at this point to allow it to soften.3. Season with salt.
4. Add in the shrimps.
5. When the shrimps turn orange, add in the spinach leaves. Mix well.
Add a bit more olive oil to avoid the dish from drying up. You can also cover the pan to create moist and for the dish to cook faster.6. Season the dish with fish sauce and pepper. If you want a spicy pasta, add a bit of chili powder.
7. Add the pasta. Mix well.
8. Add the basil powder.
9. Serve while hot.

I'm looking for your sauce recipe here. Did I miss it? I didn't get it. [-(
ReplyDeleteHi Meikah! Nope, you didn't miss it. This is not our typical saucy pasta. The oil and cherry tomatoes are "the" sauce of this shrimp and spinach pasta. Make sure to cook under low heat so as not to dry your sauce. Add water or vegetable stock if you want saucy. =p~
DeleteOoh ok... hmmm - yeah, sure sounds interesting! :) Will try this one out and will let you know. Thanks! Cheer!
