Cooking Szechuan Pork

Cooking Szechuan pork is something new for me. I hardly use any other seasoning in my kitchen aside from the usual sauces I have (e.g. fish sauce and oyster sauce). However, I'm in the mood for something different for the moment. And hence, the Szechuan pork initiative!

Szechuan pork recipe is nothing but an easy stir-fry dish. It involves quite a number of ingredients; most of which however, may already be available in your kitchen. If you love hot and spicy, sweet dish, you'll appreciate this cooking Szechuan pork for the family.

Shall we begin?

Ingredients in cooking Szechuan pork recipe:

Cooking Szechuan Pork

- cooking oil
- pork tenderloin, cut thin
- garlice, crushed
- spring onions, cut
- carrots, cut in strips
- flat green beans, cut in strips
- green bell pepper, cut in strips
- ginger, cut in strips and crushed
- chili-garlic sauce
- sesame oil
- soy sauce
- vinegar
- peanut butter
- ground chili (optional)
- brown sugar
- hot water
- fish sauce, to taste

Let's start cooking Szechuan pork!
1. Saute' a portion of the garlic and ginger in a very hot pan with cooking oil.
2. When garlic and ginger turn golden, and in the pork tenderloin. Fry well until golden as well.
3. While waiting for the pork to cook, mix the following in a deep bowl to make the Szechuan pork.

  • chili garlic sauce
  • sesame oil
  • soy sauce
  • vinegar
  • brown sugar
4. When the pork is a bit charred on both sides, set aside.

5. Using the same pan, saute' the rest of the garlic.
6. Add in the carrots and the green beans. Mix well.
7. Add the flavored pork, spring onions and green bell pepper. Mix well.
8. Add hot water.
9. Pour in the Szechuan sauce that we've mixed earlier.
10. Add some peanut butter into the dish. Mix well until the sauce is thick.
11. Season with fish sauce, if necessary.
12. Serve with hot steamy rice.

Quick tip: Add ground chili in cooking Szechuan pork recipe to make it hot and spicy.

  3. Instead of fish sauce which I do hate, my wife adds oyster sauce. and of course less the chilli.
