Cooking Bruschetta (Appetizer and Snack dip)

I tried cooking bruschetta at home without an oven. This dish is far from the usual Filipino style recipe that I know; but I was up for the challenge.

See how cooking bruschetta may be done with an over toaster and a frying pan.

Bruschetta is traditionally an Italian dish, usually served as an appetizer. It's simply toasted bread with tomato toppings. Some put ham and pepperoni on their bruschetta. In this recipe, we'll try cooking bruschetta without any proteins.

I tried cooking bruschetta at home though we don't have an over in the kitchen. Cooking bruschetta is not so hard after all. In fact, cooking bruschetta is fairly easy when you've got tomatoes, breads and spices,

Basic ingredients in cooking bruschetta:
- tomatoes, cut in 4 pieces.
I preferred not to cut my tomatoes finely in cooking bruschetta as they cook very fast. I'm cooking bruschetta after all, not preparing tomato paste.
- virgin olive oil
- garlic, crushed
- basil
- herbs and spices
- salt and pepper, to taste
- french bread, thickly cut
- butter
- Optional ingredients: bacon bits, ham, pepperoni and/or cheese

In cooking bruschetta, it is best to serve hot. Otherwise, the tomatoes may be soggy.
